is there any extra content on internal memory out of the box?
i had some small issues after installing some apps so to start clean i formated internal memory and reflashed n900 via pc suite/nokia updater
so question is, was there anything extra on there and if yes where can i get it.

also what memory usage should i see out of the box? for internal memory and for application memory? or really what i want to confirm is that i really started clean because after format and reflash my address book is still there and so are my bookmarks?

EDIT: btw is there any gps software we can install (including the maps, for australia in my case) so n900 doesn't have to use internet connection?

Two different storage spots:

rootfs aka / - this is what get's flashed by default - 256mb big - this is the system and the base apps

/home and /home/MyDocs - this is what stores all your data and is a separate 32gb flash storage module

btw, since i formated internal storage should i be flashing emmc now? or formating internal storage isn't related to emmc space?

There should have been nothing extra on it that isn't restored by flashing.

As for maps - you can use the Nokia Map Loader to load maps onto the phone for use with Ovi maps. It should then be usable without a network connection (though there's lots of reports of it failing to get a GPS lock without using the network for AGPS).

The two aren't related. There should be no need to flash the emmc unless you actually have problems with it.

to clearify this, because i been reading all over the place and i seen people saying that 32gb storage = emmc? if yes then when i formated that 32gb wouldn't all on emmc be gone? or was that just one partition that i formated ?
also i remember reading emmc flash files that we can download had some items missing so i'm bit confused.

in other words is emmc OUTSIDE of the 27gb available space that i formated and i lost nothing then?

The main firmware will overwrite the 256M root filesystem. The eMMC flash will overwrite the 32GB storage. Neither of these will touch any SD card installed.

If you formatted the 27GB partition, then this is on the eMMC and you probably want to reflash it. As for missing items, the eMMC flash is probably missing the preloaded map data, but that can be easily downloaded and installed anyway (using Nokia Map Loader). It may also be missing the manual, but I don't know for sure. There certainly shouldn't be anything major/irreplaceable missing from the downloadable flash files.
