Got my n900 today, won't use it properly until my protective case is here though. I hear stories of people receiving their n900 with faults e.g. problem with microphone, camera problems etc.

My question is, if my n900 were to have an undetected fault, what typical things should I test? What are the typical faults people here have experienced with their new n900's? I've already tested several things already including Internet but what else?

It has already been mentioned in other threads.

Make sure there are no dead pixels, microphone is working, wifi is able to search and connect, to name a few..

I have 2, possibly 3 troubled pixels in a cluster at the left of the screen, then 1 more at the bottom in the middle. They appear white even when the background is dark but they are not visable at certain angles or in certain colour backgrounds e.g. green, red (but present in blue). One of the pixels appears red in colour. sigh....

Sounds like it...You can always call and they may exchange it. If it doesnt bother you that much, then it may not be worth the hassle, especially since n900 keeps getting sold out....if not by all means, call and complain and they should send you a different unit.

and just use it couple hours to see if random reboots occur. those probably can get fixed fully with software update (fix is coming)
