I wanted to poll and see how long it took people to get thier 770 back from repair. Mine was recieved by the repair center on Dec 1, no status update from Nokia since Dec 5th. I still can not get an answer from nokia support.

I had the problem but fortunately it was within second day of owning it, so I just took it back to CompUSA and got them to swap it with another unit. hence I didn't vote in the poll.

When I sent my white screen of death unit, I waited to hear 2 days if they had received it (I sent it by registered mail) I called on day 3, had a new one sitting on my door the next day.

Mine didn't enter the tracking system until the day after I had received it. I had called because I'd been waiting a week, and the lady said to wait another week because it wasn't in her computer, and the next day, the replacement was sitting on my doorstep. The next day, I called again, to confirm it had been received. The first thing the guy told me after I gave my tracking # was that they had received it, but hadn't yet examined it.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. I called several times throughout the process so they may have marked me in their system. I was polite and simply asked what the status was and why. After about a week of checking online and seeing the "waiting for parts" was to call and ask to have my case "escalated". If I remember right customer service took my number and had the "escalation team" call me back. I didn't even have to ask why a repair center would be waiting for parts. To be fair to the repair center this did take place over this past Thanksgiving. Hope this helps

I just got off the phone with the Nokia escalation team and they are jerking me around. My equipment arrived on Dec 1st, no status update online since Dec 5th. Called escalation team yesterday, they said I had to call back today. Finally today, talked to some guy who was very rude, and barely spoke english. He offered me $240, instead of waiting for my tablet. I said no thanks, I would jusk like a replacement sent. Then he said they do not have any replacements. I said Nokia does not have any tablets in stock. I was told yes, but they could not send me a new one, mine was almost a year old. They could only send a refurbished one, but they do not have any. Then send me a new one I again persisted. Then he said I could buy one off the website for a discounted price (25$ discount) So I could buy one for 334$, and they would give me 240$. Then they said they would possibly give me some accessories to cover my cost of the difference, but I do not need any accessories.

@~$#!^%$#@*%#@!$&*#@~$%^ UGH!

I swear to God all I could think of the whole time I was on the phone, was of those Helio commercials. I just wanted to scream (after correcting him several times) ITS NOT A PHONE YOU DUMB BA$%^&#..... STOP CALLING IT A PHONE!!!!!

Seriously, am I doing something wrong, I swear to God I was nice to these people, at least until they told me I was #$%^@, then I got a little snotty. I think sending this in during the holidays may have contributed to this, but other people dont seem to be having this issue.

I can tell you one thing, that warranty is useless without a lawyer.

Anyone else send to Entronix in MN for repair? Anyone got any words of wisdom?

This sucks. I've been reading through the warranty and their within the letter of the warranty. Nokia really needs to get some customer service reps. I sent mine to Huntsville for repair.
Best I could say is take the money and any other stuff they'll give you and get one from CompUSA. I've seen several threads about rebates being offered. A quick check revealed no such goodies just now though. Sorry.

Peter The Plumber:

I am from near Flint, Michigan. When did you send yours in? I am wondering why two people from very close to the same area would be told to send it to different places? I figured when people were talking about Alabama, they were physically located closer to that repair facility.

I also looked into the Compusa rebate, but it ended 12/19

I still think that they could replace it with a new unit and are in breach of warranty for not coughing it up. That line in the warranty about sole discretion seems to only apply to the monetary offer. It very clearly states they will repair or replace. I see no caveat about "only if refurbished units are available" I would rather get mine back, than get a refurbished one. I have pointed out to them, that I have a 770, a 6682, SU-W8 keyboard, and a gps unit (ok gps unit is i-blue, its not the point though ) They couldn't care less!

He seriously wanted to send me a check for 240$ and buy a new one from the website for 334$ (25$ discount). I would have to spend my money now and wait to get a check back for some of the money. What the heck kind of scam are they running over there?

I sent mine in the middle of November 2006 and got it back at the end of the month. It was the same unit although at that point I couldn't have cared less. I'm thinking the name of the subcontractor was Palco?
I hear you about the warranty scam, I've been beaten into the ground by similar circumstances elsewhere. That's interesting that they want your money and won't give you an ecredit. Seems more appropriate, but then my bank still holds most of my deposits for 5 days. This in the age of electronic instant transfers when I can go to any atm and get money, after an instant surcharge.
Good Luck.

Peter
