I was browsing around on nokia's website today and happend to come upon a site pronouncing nokia and slingmedia's partnership to provide a slingplayer on the N95 http://www.slingmedia.com/go/nokia

I'm sure the N95 user base is larger than the internet tablets, but as the ITs become more mainstream I can't help but think it would make good business sense for sling media to provide a player for the IT. I know I would get a sling box in minute if I could watch it on my n810. Anyone else have similar thoughts?

well, i dont know much about slingbox, but it seems like its just streaming it, so i figure all you would need to do is set up the box output, and then a program to access the info, and you should have it, now, i'm not too sure, but i think it would be easliy possible for them now, but its the non-mainstreamness that kills the idea i guess

I have a slingbox and would love to see this. But the mixture of Linux and small sales means I don't think we'll see it for a while.

I also have a Slingbox and really hope that either Slingmedia will market a player for the Nokia N series or someone will write/adapt an application to view the stream on the IT's. The latter is probably the more likely solution since SlingMedia doesn't seem interested in the IT's. In fact someone has written a small application to record Slingbox streams on PC's. It's very basic but works. It's open source, experimental, and is described by the author like this: "Provide an interface (sdk) to communicate with a Slingbox (Slingmedia) for creating custom Slingbox player program or some plugin for existing Media player (like VLC). Also Provide a sample application that can be use to record from Slingbox." See http://sourceforge.net/projects/slingboxsdk/

I keep hoping that some linux guru with a Nokia tablet and a Slingbox will write an application to make this work. There have been two Slingers who have written small applications that activate and capture a Slingbox stream for the purpose of recording the stream on a remote pc/laptop. A variation of one application is actually a plug-in for vlc, a program which has been compiled for the N800. Will a maemo/vlc guru please check this out: http://www.benlo.com/slingbox/
Thanks!!

I really hope this gets done! I would love to have Sling on the IT. I really dont think Sling has any interest at all about doing it. I have written them several emails and the only reply I get is that its not in there current plans. That really sucks. I was even thinking of getting a Blackberry with no phone service, just so I could sling to it, but that would be a lot of wasted cash I think.
PLEASE, TELL ME SOMEONE IS WORKING ON THIS....
I have tried the Garnet VM applications on my N800, but just like everyone, it wont start the streem. I can look at my slingbox while I'm at home and see the N800 connect, but never get a video stream, even though the app says it is streaming. Then it just goes dead and takes me back to the main Garnet VM applications.

Is it possible to use a slingbox on your computer then remotely access it through your N800/N810? Are there software restrictions for that? Sorry for the noob questions.

What about HAVA? Isn't that the same thing? They have a player for n800. I'm sure people wouldnt want to get this though if they already have Slingbox though.

Though I gues sits still in beta?
