I was thinking something along the lines of 6 seconds, and yeah, just noise 
I guess I'm weird but I think it would be a really cool video.
Though, a "TV shutdown effect" in the end might be cool as well, I don't know. The "zap"-thing.

Yes it is a bit ironic I guess, also I'm all LCD so I don't get the old CRT fashioned shut down effects it just goes black when I hit the off switch. Try this http://homepage.ntlworld.com/vyper1/tvnoise

it would be better if at the end it acted as if a signal was found and displayed some sort of maemo logo before it boots up.
or pretend you've switched channel and found maemo or something

I'm currently watching Aston Villa and then I'll be watching the Mighty Gooners, yes I'm an Arsenal fan so don't hate me 
Basically, I guess it would just be fade-in->noise->fade-out, and without sound if it works without it. (Since the noise sound is pretty annoying!)
Noise meaning THIS, if you didn't figure it out yet!
