As most people I had problems with the battery when I first got the device.
Probably also like most people I searched for 'n900 battery problems' and I got to this forum.
To help users here are the tricks I did (grabbed out of some other threads mostly) It seriously helped for me, without loosing to much functionality (for me)
- I eddited the destops to only 1, without any widget accept for weather (as thats quite important for me in the Netherlands it always is different)
only left some shortcuts to most important apps and people
- I turned off automatic search for internet connection. (usually I'm on 3G and that works fine, doesn't eat much battery as network is usually good in Netherlands with 3/3.5 G.
When I really need fast speeds I enable wifi on command.(for mail and stuff normally 3g is more then enough)
The automatic search for networks hangs sometimes and drains the battery, that was the most important setting.
For when I'm connected to the wifi, i've set the advanced connection setting to only use 10mW in stead of 100mW and my signal is still perfect in a normal size office.
- For me I've always got a SIP (VOIP) account running, doesn't drain much when not calling
- Bluetooth is off by default (accept when I need it very occasionally
- email checks every 2 hours (as I'm usually just reading stuff from my computer e-mail and if I really need checking I'll manually check
- I've charged it a couple of times (from absolutely 0 to 96%, thats where the batt stops loading for me)
via terminal ( lshal | grep battery ) it shows battery info. (where lshal starts with a small L not a i )
============
I use the device normally and do 1 charge every 2 days (48H, with 'normal' use). When I use it really a lot it lasts for about 24h.
