I've noticed alot of people don't like to read whole threads for a few important lines. I'll update this when I think its important.


Dates: 9th - 14th - January 2010

9th; zehjotkah shows how to run warcraft II and starcraft in similar threads. This eventually became news on Gizmodo as well. Users debate over the legality of sharing classic games. sjgadsby pwns / over rules all stating its illegal.

11th; New Firmware Released 1.2009.44-1 was released. This firmware paves the way for the major update, skins the application manager, and makes a few under the hood changes. During the first few hours the release was staggered over what appeared to be time zones. All got it in the end, rejoice!

12th; Ovi Store is opened. Accessible through store.ovi.com in the browser. A handful of applications released. Many complained about unoptified apps. Many realised that using apt-get they were able to download apps without signing up. Leads to bigger problems.

12th; Angry Birds Level Pack 1. A paid application which added extra levels for the game Angry Birds. The major problem was that it was downloadable through the use of apt-get thus bypassing the $3 cost. Rovio and Nokia were notified and thus removed the level pack from both the repository and store. The saga continues.
