Hi,
i stumbled around the web for a wile, because i needed a new phone ...
and the n900 is so amazing ... but it is not realy a normal mobilephone, and the price is a little bit high too ... so i have some questins about the phone ... i have read a lot in the internet , nut i have still questions . Sorry if they are a little bit silly , but i never user a linux. And also i want to knew everysing about this phone before i buy this device.

1) How long does the the phone realy work without charging, when you browse with wife , watch some films, or just hear musik. There are very bad comments on ammazon about the battery life.

2) I seached a lot for some soft , and there is a lot for the os 2008 or the os 2009 , so will meamo 5 support the soft for the older versions ? and have you found every softwave you needed ?

3) the n900 have no multitouch. Is is because the software just doesnt´t support it , or because the hardwere is missing for multitoching ?

4) how do you carry it ? I mean it is quit big . I found some bags , wich you can fix on your belt . Do someone use such bag ?

5) The maemo is a debian linux , as far i have understand it. So can you kill proceses like in win xp `? =))) I mean can you turn off a lot of stuff you just dont need, to save battary life?

6) Can you run only softwave , wich is made for maemo , or is there some emulation tools or something , if you want to use for example windwos mobile soft ...

7) do someone use skype on the n 900 ? is it usebale ? And what is about im like icq ?

8) Reading, how easy can you read on the n900. Is the screen big enough ?

9) are there some good games ? I knew there is quake 3 , wich is realy great. But are thre some good games, wich are easy to play?

i hope my questions are not to difficult )) and sorry for my pathetic english -.-

well it depends on what phone you had before, Previously I was using a N96/n95 so this phone was a little new to me but I was I used to having most of these features, so I can appreciate how well the n900 utilises its features.

1) for a phone like this the battery is pretty good, I haven't really had any problems
2) you can't use older software, but the amount of software available is pretty good, I found most software that I wanted and some that where just really interesting, but I'm still waiting for a media player with a equaliser
3) its the hardware wrong type of touch screen
4) It is big but it would fit in any pocket, personally I would never walk around with a phone on my belt.
5)There is a way of seeing you tasks, but you will need to learn a bit about linux/xterm
6)so far there are only a few emulators, but think about this you can install the android software on the phone so I guess theres lots of potential.
7)I tried out skype once and it seemed fine.
8) In my opinion the screen is perfectly sized good for quickly viewing sites maybe a little small if your trying to read from a distance but zooming is very easy
9) yes there are great games, the graphics are the best I have seen on a phone and all of them are free (check out bounce)

overall its a great device not the best phone.

thank you for answers. They are realy helpful.
can you realy just intall android software ? I mean, without any emulators ? that is new to me ... but since the android market is realy growing ... yes , then i see no points, wich may stop me from buying this phone ...

I may have made it a little unclear, you can have the android os on the phone aswell as maemo.

installing it hasn't hit the mass market but its is possible and I think that the n900 has a few more tricks up its sleeve yet to come
