as root:

apt-get clean

See if that gets you any space.

Doesn't do anything.

Wait a sec...i got 24mb FREE from rootfs..yes THANK YOU!
I knew about apt-get clean just never thought of it. What is apt-get clean does anyway??

Anyway...it's kind of weird...that when there is absolutely no space at all in rootsf, you can't even go to the manager and open up application dialog to disable anything...can't even uninstall anything cuz nothing is showing up. I was a bit concern then...haha. My last resort would be RESTORE if i can't uninstall through xterminal.

apt-get clean removes all temporary cache's and downloaded deb files. Free's up space usually.

App manager won't open because there is no room for it to do anything. Even removing files through app manager still requires the app manager to utilize some space to prepare to remove the files cleanly.

Are you able to open it now with 24mb space?

So any deb you download is stored in rootfs as well?? That's crazy!! I thought the install files ONLY! Yes, with 26MB FREE in rootfs i am able to go into App manager and open App Catalogs and disable all the repos (i enable all of them including Chinook, Diablo...everything..)...that's why it used up space i guess. I don't understand why some App in Extras-testing are not showing up in App Manager like fmms. I SWEAR i seen it yesterday in App Manager...then it's not never seen again...wonder what's going on?? I know i enable Extra-testing repos because fmms came from Extra-testing repos.

Maybe after installed it...it won't show up again?

There is a few threads floating around here about apps magically not appearing in App manager. Seems mostly related to the current state of the repositories and which cache you're running from.

And only apps installed via apt-get should take up space on the rootfs. The Application Manager very smartly downloads the debs to an alternate location to prevent just that.
