Good day to you all

I have the following (very minor) problem

Beeing married (no that's not a problem :-)) and having a handfull of children I have 6 contacts in my phone with the same Phone (home) number.

INCOMMING CALLS

So when I receive a call its clear to me that my N900 can not know who is calling. My old Nokia 6110 Navigator would deceide that it is not able to display an image.

With the N900 it show the image of one of my children.

=> I think the N900 should also display a default avatar (blue default, like you have when you have no image for a contact)

Now I allways have a splitsecond the impression my daughter is calling. But it could be anybody from home

OUTGOING

This should actually be possible to be handled by the phone. If I choose my wife and call her the phone will also display the image of my daughter. Once again for a splitsecond confusing.

For outgoing calls the N900 should know which contact I did choose and display the correct image/avatar.

-------------------------
Anybody else noticing?

I oppened a bug a here. Please vote for it if you think it worth fixing.

I think this is an issue for many other phones as well. It probably picks the first contact with the phone number. So, if you want to display a picture of your house, simply do a contact which is named "A" or something like that(it should at least be the first entry in your phonebook with that number), assign the home number to it and add a picture, and it should display that picture when someone is calling from the home number.

Hi marktold, I've the same issue with my home number, so I've had to create a "Home" named contact and to remove that number from all my familiars, but that is not the way it should work.

I've just voted for your bug.

Definitely on outgoing calls the phone should show the image of the person that you actually picked, not someone else who happens to have the same phone number.

Obviously incoming calls are harder. To be really clever, the phone could show multiple images of all the people that match that number, up to a maximum of, say, a 3 by 3 grid.

EDIT: I've just noticed that redex@ich.ms has already suggested the same grid thing on the bug. I'll vote for the bug myself later (I don't have access to my bugs.maemo.org password at the moment).

That's why I've voted for your bug.

What about putting a link to the bug page in your signature?
That would help a lot and more people would know where to vote. I'd really love to see this issue fixed soon.

However, I think it will probably end in Brainstorm.
