E-Mail stopped working - maemo.org

my N900 doesn't launch E-Mail application anymore. It loads and after 10 or so seconds the app disappears.
any ideas?

/usr/bin/maemo-summoner /usr/bin/modest.launch -s

in X Terminal could provide a first idea.
