I think the auto add contact to address book is still there in PR1.1
your sending prob is a bit garbled to me
-does email go if you do a manual send and receive?
-does Nokia messaging work if it is the only email service set up?
-which email provider are you using with nokia messaging?

might be a problem with your Gmail account getting confused between which protocol it is using. Nokia Messaging by default will try and send its mail through gmails servers.
a work around as I understand is to have nokia messaging send mail via its own servers.
To do this you need to log into your account at email.nokia.com, select Edit Settings on the account that is receiving error, select Change Server Settings and remove the information in Outgoing mail server and Outgoing server port and uncheck SSL Required for outgoing mailserver, and select Save. This will cause your emails to be sent through the Nokia Messaging server and might get over this problem.
