Unfortunately we're not providing it based on user preferences, but instead based on being logged in.

There has been some discussion about moving the Midgard toolbar items for non-site-admins to inside the page, a bit like tools like MediaWiki do it. Generally the floating toolbar is anyway more useful to people doing actual content management so this would make sense. However, this would require a little bit of discussion as suddenly the tools would be in different places that previously expected.

What do you think?

BTW, supporting the Maemo browser has been important with the toolbar since the early days with 770

I think is better fixed in some place of the webpage. Floating stressed me and is very unconfortable using n900 (for example I had difficulty to tap on my name in the right corner of the webpage because toolbar covered it!!)

Regard browser, I just donwloaded and installed firefox today..but if it's important to support microb...that's ok for me!

The toolbar remembers the position where you drag it. I know this isn't a proper solution, but you can make life easier on N900 by moving the toolbar to some place where it will not be in your way.
