does anyone know if S60 application or SIS file can be installed onto N900 at all?

I will keep it short and simple: No!

Linux doesn't run Symbian Programs (yet?)

No, applications compiled for S60 will not run on Maemo.

No. use search. people already have asked this.
It's like installing windows applications on Linux or Mac (or the other way around)

In the future it will be possible, but right now, NO.

Even in the future dont think it will be possible, unless the program is built using QT and the developer recompile for ARM processor.

The emulator is in the process of getting a total rewrite, so it's quite possible that that'll be runnable on the N900.
