Hi,

I have gotten both USB and Bluetooth tethering to work on my N900 with OS X. However, I recently had to reflash my N900, and now I've lost some setting I remember setting up for, I think, udev, that made sure the N900 created virtual network devices with the same MAC address each time. Right now, every time I restart my N900 and reconnect it to OS X and select PC Suite mode, OS X registers it as a new device and wants me to set it up in Network Preferences.

For example, if I connect my N900 to OS X, OS X will register it with en16. The next time I connect the N900 to OS X, OS X will try to register it with en17, because the MAC address changed.

Does anyone have the fix for this?

Thanks a lot!

I have followed the instruction on the wiki to hard code the mac address for g_nokia. This however doesn't work for the PC-connectivity manager.
Digging through the package it seems to use g_ether instead and the kernel log reports "ether gadget: using random self ethernet address".

Is there a way to force the g_ether module to use a fixed mac address?

Thank you for the info. You reminded me of exactly what I wanted to get: http://wiki.maemo.org/N900_USB_netwo...he_MAC_address. I will try it with g_ether and get back to this thread, as I think that's what I had to fix last time. I thought I did something with udev as well, but I cannot remember now.
