Hi there,
i installed firefox on my new n900 and I am a bit confused.
There is NO Firefox app installed with englisch spell checking. I even installed the german dictionary (which works on my PC just fine).
Still in firefox everything ist checked for correct english spelling.

As I don't have such an problem with the pc firefox, I figured it has something to do with the mobile version.

Can anybody help me? All this red marking in every textbox is very unsettling.

One more thing: How do I disable the spell checking functionality in Firefox?
I hate when a software thinks that it knows better.

I would prefer german spellchecking but no spellchecking ist better than one in a different language
So even that would be ok with me

I wrote about it into Mozilla's forums. I found a solution, but it is a little hacky:

Open /home/opt/mozilla/fennec-1.0.0/defaults/preferences/mobile.js (with Midnight Commander, or whatever, I did it with WinSCP), and edit this line:
Code:
pref("layout.spellcheckDefault", 1);
change 1 to 0:
Code:
pref("layout.spellcheckDefault", 0);
That should do it.

As for the language, go to the Preferences UI, and change the "Language" from "Auto-Detect" to "Deutsch".
