Why don't you just try Easy Debian?

Edit: Ahh.. you want the n900 to be like a USB pendrive.

have mine running ubuntu when i plug in a work... do it like you would for any usb drive.

p.s make sure the partition is formated by your n900(or a file system it can read) or else it doesn't boot.

Above all, you'll need the armel distribution. i386 won't run on the N900.

I don't think he wants the code running on the n900, I think he wants the OS on the n900 but to run it from the Workstation when it is plugged in. Its none too clear to me what is being asked.

Like a bootable USB key.

In which case it would have to be the i386 I think but then that partition probably won't be able to boot on the n900 since it is a different architecture, unless someone know different?

I think you are at the right way but here maybe its a bit clearer!

I want a full-installed debian on my N900!
and just this should be bootable.....
-on my N900 maybe through a I386 emulator like bochs or DOS-Box
-on a normal PC at the Sytemstart via usb like Pendrive
-on a running Windows System as "Virtual Machine" via usb and portable software like VMWare player, Qemu or Virtual PC

i Hope this explaination is a bit better!
