so i want to convert the usb micro to usb female by means of an adapter

the closest i have found is this one

Honestly, it will be easier and cheaper to just get a small USB charger instead.

I've got a 'Micro USB to FEMALE USB' cable. In theory, the plan would be for me to plug the micro into the N900 and insert a Memory Key into the Female USB port of the cable.
The Nokia N900 doesn't notice this memory key or even the cable.

Is there a way so i could therefore use the Nokia N900 Tablet to read USB keys?

You could do this pretty easily on previous Maemo tablets with by enabling USB host mode.

However, I've previously read that the N900's hardware doesn't support USB host mode.

@nutty6: so you need just a normal USBfemale to USBmale extension cable, I think?

But if you really would need to change the sex of the USB connector, then for example these USB lesbian, or USB gay. (Sowwy for a bad joke.)

For connecting USB-memorystick to N900, it is not yet possible, see this.
