can someone here please better explain what exactly the wi-fi switcher app does in noob speak? b/c w/ the standard description on all the places I've read I'm not "getting it."

for ex., I already have the app that allows switching between dual, GSM, 3G, and I just disconnect whatever connection whenever i'm not using wifi. . . . so what's this app do that's different?

It 'turns off' the WLAN @ kernel level.

oh, I think I understand: so even w/ those other measures something is still "running" relevant to wifi. ok. so does that process or "kernel" switch back on pretty easily?

i mean, the phone doesn't need rebooting when switching back, right?
(b/c I ONLY use wifi, at least when connected--no 3G, no data plan).

And thanks for the quick reply.

It's easy to switch on and off. I would say it is analagous to the hardware switch you might have on your laptop for the wireless card. The switcher turns the card off as opposed to leaving it on using battery and just not connecting to a wireless network.
