I'd like to set up my email so that I can read it on my N900 whilst out and about but then, once I get home, have the same emails download to my email client (Outlook) on my PC.

When I first got my N900 it did seem to do this but now only the occasional email appears in Outlook when I get back home (even though I've received more emails on my phone whilst out and about)

Any ideas....?

I guess you are using POP3 on the N900 and unchecked the "leave on server" box in the options. Change that and try again. If you use IMAP instead, you'll get the added benefit of seeing which messages are read and which are not.

Yes, you're right, POP3 but I've definitely got that option checked. It seems to have started happening since the updates. Maybe if I uncheck, switch off, re-check and power down again??

Still no good. I've got the 'keep emails on server' option but none (or only a select few) actually appear on my email client. There doesn't seem to any pattern (this evening I got home, booted up Outlook on my laptop and I received two emails (one from the morning and one from late afternoon). Absolutely no sign of any of the the other emails I'd received on the N900 inbetween....???

Help!

Would be useful if you can post, who is your email sever provider ie gmail, yahoo etc. Also what email option are you using on your N900 ie Nokia messaging, direct connect, mail for exchange etc

are you speaking about gmail?
If so for gmail It is gmail feature....
you have to google for it and use something like:
'recent:username@gmail.com'

My provider is Blueyonder and it uses POP3/SMTP set up using the N900 client. On my old N95 I could read email whilst out and about then, when I got home and started Outlook up, all the emails I'd received on my phone would appear in Outlook and, upon refreshing the email on the 95, would then disappearr off the phone. Perfect! Now, I've got lots of emails 'stuck' on my phone that won't download to Outlook for some reason apart from the odd random one or two....

I'm still having this problem - only random emails appearing on my home email client. Any ideas?

I've also noticed (not sure how long this has been happening) that I can only send email when I'm connected via WiFi...???!

I've just tried sending a test email again and it'll ONLY send when connected via WiFi!!! Obviously this isn't right and, when combined with my other problem of only random emails appearing in my Outlook client at home, makes the email on my device pretty awful. Is there any way I can remove the OTA updates that I've had as I could send email before them?? Or would re-flashing do any good? Email on the road is a must have for me so I desperately need to get this sorted.....help!!!

I use www.mail2web.com - Push email to my phone.

If you sign up to Mail2Web Live they'll give you 6months free push email with ActiveSync 2007 support. I've used it before with Roadsync on my i8510 and it worked really well.

I have 3 email accounts:
Hotmail
Gmail
Mail2Web

Hotmail receives professional and work emails, I forward all emails to Gmail which filters through predefined email addresses to my phone. That way I get everything I want sent to my phone and not so much crap.
