If I just try to subscribe to the Gmail atom feed as usual, first of all I get the URL:

file://https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom

Looks pretty strange. If I click Done I get an "unable to add feed" error. So I remove the "file://" and get the same thing.

So I see two potential problems:

- Maybe the RSS app can't handle feeds via HTTPS. I've tried other Atom feeds but I couldn't find other HTTPS feeds to test with so I don't know.

- Maybe the RSS app doesn't handle cookies - obviously you need to be logged in to get to your mail's RSS feed.

Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Tried this too:

Still no luck.

Another update:

Apparently using FreeMyFeed works, but it's way too insecure for me to consider:

Update:

This could be due to a bug older than Maemo 5

I have tried a few HTTPS server feeds and none of them work on Maemo browser or feed reader. I assume it only works over HTTP?

And out of curiosity... I have lots of feeds behind HTTPS that I use on my other phones (e.g., shopping lists, messages between my family and gf on my server, photos, etc.)... Is there any feed reader on Maemo that will let me quickly access these feeds? Would be great to quickly get to my shopping list at the grocery store .

Just did a quick test and FeedingIt is working with feeds on HTTPS, and authentication. For example, in the case of Gmail, you can use a url like:
https://username:password@mail.googl...mail/feed/atom

Note however that your username and password would be stored unencrypted on disk.
