I need to synchronize Evolution with Ubuntu on my N900.

How I can do? Without using Google products.

I have done it using Akonadi and Google calendar. i think if not with google service you will need groupware servers (not sure).

In linux both KOrganiser and Evolution has support for Akonadi. Using akonadi you can sync personal information to thord party sited and services. you just need to add the appropriate packages to enable it in akonadi.

Here is a write up of how i managed to do using akonadi, google calendar and MailForExchange service -link

Theoretically it should be possible, as SyncEvolution officially is supporting the N900. I, however, have not been able to get it running.

Basically the only serious problem I have with my N900.

"officially supported" in this case equates to "I do what I can in my spare time" - it is neither supported by Intel nor Nokia. It did work for a while, but with more modern Linux distributions there is a Bluetooth communication problem between N900 and the Linux host.

Details are here: http://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4835

At this point I don't see how we can get that fixed without some help by Nokia, because the components on the N900 that SyncEvolution talks to are closed source.

I tried 100 different tutorials and all of them get me nowhere. For me , local syncing over BT is impossible.

In theory it should be possible over USB, and possibly over Bluetooth, using opensync/multilsync, with the opensync syncml plugin and the opensync evolution plugin.

However, the last time I tried this with a Nokia phone (E61 or E71), I was trying to sync my Exchange calendar (ActiveSync was broken on our Exchange deployment), and the evolution syncml plugin only allows syncing to local files/folders ...

you don't need to use (the apparently broken) bluetooth if you don't want to use google services. a while ago i had very good results using mobical service for syncing. on your desktop, sync with mobical. then sync all of your mobile devices (incl. the n900 with syncevolution) with mobical, too.

hmm,
addressbook on the phone is accessable via osso-addr<tab> and for that scriptable(gives vcard3 output). calendar is as far as i see it a sqlight database( i might be missing something about that) this is also scriptable.
