Further to this i have found that if i continuously do a ping to some server then the mobile does not disconnect. What it is looking like is that there is some timeout feature which kicks me out of the network when i stop using the network. This is strange because i have sip and gtalk enabled so these services should keep the network engaged.

I'm on the 3 (uk) network too and had a few problems yesterday with disconnects but it all seems fine today. Sorry i can't help further.

Is there a network upgrade going on in your area? They're upgrading across the country this year, so it could be a factor. Goto http://www.three.co.uk/Help_Support/.../The_3_network and stick your location in the relevant box to find out.

Since the past two days i am very frequent disconnects on the three network. The connect only lasts for about 5 minutes. Is anybody else facing a problem like this? Is there any log which i can look at to ascertain the problem. The three customer care say there is reported faults in the network.
