In seeking to utilize once again Fanoush's excellent and usually quite dependable hack for setting up to boot from my new MMC card, when following his instructions I this time encountered the following code response:

Nokia770-49:~# apt-get -d install tar
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Note, selecting busybox instead of tar
busybox is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Nokia770-49:~#

As "busybox" has apparently automatically instead been substituted for "tar," the subsequent designated command -- "dpkg -x tar*.deb /tar-temp/ " -- doesn't work. The required "tar" file can't be found.

Has anyone else recently encountered this, and if so, come up with a solution or work-around?

Schmots: By sheer coincidence, the reason I had to reconfigure my MMC card is that it had been corrupted by my attempted installation of Penguinbait's Window Manager ROX hack on my 770. So, in fact, the missing "tar" file had once already been on the corrupted MMC. Anyway, I was able to re-download it and readily figure out how to substitute it in Fanoush's recommended commands and effect the reinstall of my operating system on the MMC. However, I am going to hold off in any further experimentation with Penguinbait's commendable but yet still somewhat flawed Rox window manager hacks until he (and/or others working with him) manage to get it/them workable on the 770 as well as the N800. Anyway, many thanks for steering me in the right direction, even if it was back to where I had already been!
