your friends must not be using yahoo mail through e-mail clients
yahoo does NOT support IMAP, therefore POP is ONLY one-way!
i now route all e-mail through my g_mail account

i would use these settings so that you do not have to setup an smtp mailbox with your wireless carrier. it works great.
setup new email with account.
chose imap
inbound: imap.mail.yahoo.com
port: 143
outbound: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
port: 587
works like a charm!

In your post only these two settings differ:
outbound: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
port: 587
What do you mean by "do not have to setup an smtp mailbox with your wireless carrier". Please explain because I can properly use mail with the settings mentioned by me too!

if you are using tmo in USA, then the outbound messages for email can be rather tempermental.
so in order to have it work consistantly, you would have to log into your tmo accout and set up the email on the network server and just use those settingas for yuoufr outbound.
ie:
outbound: myemail.t-mobile.com
login: 8885551212
password: password
however, with the smtp.MOBILE.mail. yahoo.com i have not had to use the smtp outbound settings.
this was not lways the case when using my 9500 ON S80 and only started when i got my s60 e90.
My query is pretty straightforward (I've looked for answers elsewhere within this forum but couldn't find any!
I have Yahoo Mail Plus and want to use it on my N900. When i connected my N900 over WiFi and setup my Yahoo Mail on the default N900 email client, it set up fine but I noticed that there was no 2-way sync between my Yahoo Mail on N900 vs on Web [Sending, Deleting emails on N900 did not reflect on Web Yahoo Mail].
I asked my friends and learnt that Yahoo Mail has perfect 2-way sync for both iPhone and BlackBerry (and currently does not support N900). Is this true?
Now, I know Gmail has perfect 2-way sync (probably because it runs on IMAP) but I use Yahoo Mail as my primary email and badly want a perfect 2-way sync on N900.
Now, how can I get this 2-way sync for Yahoo Mail. Is it something to do with changing my default N900 email client settings OR using Nokia Messaging OR using Mail for Exchange OR something from the telecom provider (in case I use 3G and not WiFi)?
I cannot believe that iPhone and BB have this luxury and not N900!
Please help!!
