This isn't meant to be a rant, this is just pointing the obvious of yet another "Nokia not supporting the N900". Why isn't the N900 included in this offer?

http://www.nokia.co.uk/services-and-...-19-navph2_101

Yes it is free maps and my N900 has them (but they are of little value without the speaky bit). But no car holder, no voice turn by turn speech thingy that I can find on the N900?

Anyone willing to step up and defend Nokia's commercial decision to omit a very useful tool from the N900? If the N900 is a flagship device (We all now know it ain't) Why leave it off?

For the same reason you mentioned...

In Nokias mind this is *NOT* a flagaship device. No matter how much we kick and scream.

It is indeed a useful tool and I would like it on my N900 but I bought it knowing that I would be making some compromise in some areas (didnt know what).

I think it is wiser from Nokia not to expose itself in a bad light by promoting N900, when it does not have voice navigation, as a navigation device "complete with dock". If they do this the harm might be worse than what actually is.

Agreed.

N900 was never advertised as a flagship device (N97 was and now N8 I believe).

I do want Ovi Maps 3.0 with the ability to save locations etc. Voice navigation would have meant I would have saved money on my latest Garmin too.

Dont even start with the lack of proper google maps implementation (I know thats in google's hands but still).

Just frustrating, it is a blooming expensive phone and can do so much allegedly but Nokia hamstrung it and continue to skip it by.

If they don't push maps onto it, I can't see them fixing Nokia suite or Ovi suite to support the phone. Without which syncing stuff is much more complicated.

I just think Nokia have missed another trick and this shows their continuing logic of distancing themselves from the N900.

I had sympathy for the Finland techie guys, but their authistic approach towards the n900 users is a huge turn-off. My next phone will be an Iphone. It may be commercial, it may be slick, but they do 1 thing good at Apple: keep an eye on the usability of their products for their customers. The mystery and lack of focus in the Nokia market strategy is incredible. So much noise around the introduction of the N900. And now they drop it, can't make it happen, don't know where to go and get lost in their own belly button. A classic misser: making promises but not making them happen.
