I just tried your method .. it isn't working for me ... When I disable my facebook IM account from the 'Accounts' section in the Dashboard Available menu, all my Facebook-only contacts disappear from the Contacts list ... hence I cannot delete them ... They re-appear when I re-enable my facebook IM account ..

Contacts in hidden friend lists should not be displayed on mobile or desktop client
Client: N900 with integrated facebook chat in PR1.2 (ver. 10.2010.19.1)
Fishbowl
With reference to http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=14818 selecting a list to be offline also shows the contact within that list as offline on N900 (Perfectly as intended)
However ref to http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=14817 AND http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=16744
EXPECTED OUTCOME :
Contacts within that list should not be downloaded to N900's addressbook
ACTUAL OUTCOME :
They still do !
Extra Comments :
With users having 100+ friends populating a mobile's addressbook is not a good idea and an option should be available. If a list is marked as not to show in chat, as per your own faq no. 16744 the contacts within it should not be displayed, otherwise having lists is useless in this regard.
Please also note that if a contact is a member of more than one list and one of the list is marked not to show in chat, then that contact must NOT be shown regardless of status of other lists of which it is part of.
PS
If you are not interested or bothered about making changes just for a few thousand N900 owners then kindly also note that this behaviour affects all other mobile clients and desktop clients (tested fishbowl for Win 7) hence i concluded this is a problem (or a missing feature?) with facebook chat on your side and not our clients.
I look forward to an improved version of facebook chat which will enhance usage experience of millions of users.
Thank You

I have just noticed something ... if I delete a Facebook contact from my N900, its NOT deleted from my Facebook account .. That is, even though N900 warns that the contact would also be deleted from Facebook servers, it doesn't actually happen for me ..
Can everyone else try this too .. ?
My workaround is to just merge every random facebook friend into 1 or 2 fake contacts on the phone. Then you only have 2 extra people.
The thing is, a large quantity of my Facebook friends are those people whom I don't call/chat with that often, and so I would not want them to be added to my contacts list. But if I try to delete such contacts my my N900, I'm greeted with a warning that deleting them from N900 would also delete them from my facebook profile ..
Is it possible to delete a contact from my N900 but still keep them on Facebook ?
