Hardware wise, the N8 is incredible with the camera and the xenon flash. Also the Maemo OS is amazing too but I'm not too familiar with it and I'm not smarty guy like you guys are making apps and stuff so idk. The only thing that turns me off about the N8 is that it's Symbian^3 which I am not too fond off. So what do you guys think? I don't know too much about the N8 either but I've had the N900 for about 4 months and had the N97 for 2 months before.

I was thinking the same thing. it is not linux but is has an ssh cliant and can rdp. it even suports usb otg out the box. i am hoping it has the pim with task discriptions, you never know nokia droped the ball with the n900. big draback for me is the 640px wide screen. the camers and flash is way cool though.

well I would say its a bit risky,
I mean except the camera nothing seems promising about it, it might just be a n97 v2
I would wait for a new meego device

For me just stay on n900 lol! Knowing nokia by the time n8 is released there are upcoming mobile devices far greater than n8 already. They just keep on coming so best would be sticking to 1 device for a year or 2 before switching to another one. They won't make another mistake like they did on n95 i mean look at that they packed all the features on n95 and all its successors went down until touch devices were released.

USB OTG is a thing to consider.

Agreed. If you need more, get a device designed to do more.

I'm able to do an incredible amount of stuff with my N810. With no previous mobile device the N810 has paved the way for me in terms of portability and power. I can remote desktop into my servers and admin everything, do Skype calls, figure out where I am in the world thanks to Maemo Mapper, take notes in Xournal, view PDFs, MSN, AIM, IRC, record audio/video, wardrive, I can even grab emails and their images under Modest without any fuss. The only complaint I have with the device is that it has such little ram and it has no hardware acceleration. These two things cause compatibility issues with stuff that I want to do but the N900 would not be the fix for that. I suspect I would have the same trouble with the N8. Seeing as how I run into another issue that is the OMAP processor, I should probably abandon this platform. There aren't many packages that are compatible with these devices. I treat my N810 as though it were a full computer but it's not.

I'll probably go to a full x86/x64 tablet later this Fall. Something old and cheap.
