Anybody knows how to port Maemo on Android device? I have LG GT540 (SWIFT or OPTIMUS(in Russia)) I want to install maemo as second OS, later maybe as First ) Need investigate how to change(replace) bootloader, to make multiboot. Next step I want to build maemo kernel with android config and try to boot it. My knowledge about booting android devices not anought. Device bases on ARMv6 processor and has 159 Mb RAM. Pheriphical devices are not important on this step, I think.

Thanks for help.

Best Regards, Alexey.

I think you ask this in the wrong forum...

Go to some android forum and ask over there

Okay the previous response was pretty degrading.

Legitimate question deserves at least half-decent answer.

The first problem is you need Root access to your device.
Next you need to find a way to install OS to your device
The obvious would be flashed (completely replacing or dualbooting) on the NAND, but could brick your phone
So your next bet would be to run it through Android with a program that achieves sudo and gradually kills off Android systems and loads your preffered OS (like HaRET for WinMo)
[chance of having a port <10%]

Once their is a technique to do this specifically suited for your phone, then you could think of another OS on your phone.
Perhaps if their is a community support, they could get Ubuntu (most likely) ported/working
And if Ubuntu is ported, then you know debian could be installed, so you know Maemo would be theoretically possible.
[chance of port <1%]

So there is a lot things needed first, and you really need to go to the Android or the LG community to research this

As far as I know, Mer would be your best bet but even (after many years!) Mer (pretty much Maemo5) has not been officially ported to any single non-Nokia device. Mer will be (is) dead pretty soon as the developers are moving to others platforms (like Android) especially with MeeGo around the corner.
[chance of port <<0.01%]

Encouraging )))
I have root access to my device. Also I start investigate Android structure. Device ROM has 7 partitions as I understand. I will try to install fdisk, to get information about partitions. I don't understand howto work(debug) NAND without Jtag(or other physical access to memory).

I think, there is no difference between Maemo and Android on lowlevel. If I have working linux kernel, I need to change some middlelevel backends and works with another OS )

Most important is loading other linux kernels. This is my vision of problem porting any linux. I will try to find help on Android forums and come back

Thank you )
