Hi Folks

I've had my N900 since pre xmas 2009. At first it seemed fine. I tried really hard to treat it like a mobile phone and not a Linux machine in my pocket. So with that in mid I kept away from the dev & testing stuff.

After a while it started having an odd reboot in a specific application. My guess was it was the app. This seems to be getting worse and worse. Now just about every time I run firefox or the native browser it reboots.

I flashed it a couple of times to try and improve it, as it happens the app which was giving me all the problems is now fine, but browsing is a real problem.

I’ve checked the /proc/bootreason and I get 32wd_to & sw_rst.

It seems a lot worse when I using 2/3/3.5G radio than it does when I use wifi.

If I doesn’t get any better I’m going to have send it back to Nokia cos it pretty much unusable when I’m out and about.

If anyone has any idea’s I’d be glad to give them a try.

Try a different sim.

Check your battery voltage.

I own 2 and neither ever reboots on its own and I load anything on them....

sounds like your device is messed up, when it really reboots everytime you start the browsers.
doesnt happen to me.

32wd_to is the watchdog rebooting the device, since most SW problems were fixed in PR1.1, it's actually a hardware problem.
Are you on the latest firmware? (3.2010.02-8)

When you reflashed, did you reflash the eMMC?

In a way it's a good thing it's getting worse, since it will be easy to tell when it is fixed. If you have a removable memory card, you could remove it, just as a test.

It's just yours. However I think there might have been a bad batch of N900. Some users sometimes do seem to complain about problems that I never ever even encountered. And I need the charge my N900 at least 2-3 times a day due to the heavy usage. And I also currently only have 5% free of rootfs. I install a lot of apps to try from extras-devel. So my point is I certainly don't treat it well, but have never had major problems.

Its running the latest firmware and the voltage look like its O.K. from using BatteryGraph.
I'll give Vodafone a call in the morning and get them to send a new SIM out.

It's not every time I use the browser it reboots, its not done it at all today, but I've been on WiFi not 3G.

I'm liking the sound of it being a SIM issue.

I had a same problem with the battery running down if I was using several IM's all day. No I only enable it when I want to use it and its lasts miles longer..

When I flashed it, yep I did the eMMC as well and never rebooted between adding eMMC and firmware.

Thanks nice to know everyones elses is O.K.

My N900 is also from pre xmas(19th to be specific) and was a bit worried that it would have reboots or similar being all new OS, but no reboots to this day. Very solid.
