I need a util that will read MS WORD DOC's. No need to edit just view.
Please keep it simple, 'cause I am stupid. Just point me to the file with a link that will install on my N800 without all the messages for missing lib files. I love my N800, but it has to do real work in the real world, I know it has the potential, just needs some serious brainpower from the likes of you folks out there that know this stuff. I don't claim to, i am just a dumbass consumer that loves to spend on gadgets that make my life easier.

If you have an app like this that works, please also post a paypal donation link, I believe in paying for good software, or at least donations to those who are purist and just need starbuck's coffee money.

Thanks,
Craig

There isn't any word viewer that I know of, so the only workaround would be to export your word docs as pdf before you copy them over.

Don't you have to purchase the PDF 'creator/editor' version to save files from MS WORD to PDF? I know the PDF viewer stuff is free (of course). Serious man, I would do some Paypal donations to some creative programmer dude that can do an app that runs on the N800 and can view MS WORD doc's natively.

When I am on the road I get emails from work that have email attachments. Most of the folks in the same boat will tell you that here are Barry Bonds hitter's:

1. email , just text
2. email , with MS DOC attached.
3. email, with excel spsheet attached
4. email, with PDF file attached ( no problem, built in already)

There *is* a viewew for MS word files.

Install
1. antiword from http://erinye.com/maemo/antiword_0.37-1_armel.deb
2. doc reader from https://garage.maemo.org/projects/docreader/

Doc reader is a GUI application which allows you to open a word file and convert it in pdf format (using antiword) on your tablet, so that you can browse it. You can convert it as well in ascii text that you can copy or edit.

Hopefully in the near future a stable port of abiword will be available - it's a word processing app that can open also doc files. The versions available now are quite unstable - look for them in the forum.

AbiWord's coming, and will perhaps have PDF output too, we'll see how lucky I get when compiling.
