Yes I am aware of wizard-mounter. What this tool (which didnt get much developer-time in the last 4 months, btw) can't do is letting me BROWSE the available network shares.

I'm pretty sure even my 770 would let me do that. Now all we have is a quirky tool that only lets you mount stuff you know the exact location of. Most of the time, even then I can't mount my shares.

So... any ideas on having a tool with a comfortable GUI that lets you select and mount network shares without ever typing their paths in yourself? Is this even possible at all?

Telepathic UIs are StarTrek technology, you 'll need to enter something for quite a while longer.

Could you perhaps describe a use-case with a little more details? Like what type of "share" are you interested in mounting, what operations should be available and other things like that.

If you're talking about SMB/CIFS shares in N900 it was removed in favor of upnp stuff... but if you check out power-kernel & qole's site there are some samba-related modules so you can mount things as you please.

Joorin:
Then how come I can open a network share on my computer without typing in the absolute path? Because I can browse through available network shares. I am used to this intuitive way of accessing network shares and I appreciated having it on the 770. Now it isn't available anymore.

oh well, maybe you are right. yet it still itches me not being able to easily mount my stuff over network. Strikes me as a step backwards. Not every mediaplayer on the n900 supports upnp, and not everything i'd like to access over network is media.
