Hey everyone..

It has been 2days since I bought a Nokia N900.. I absolutely love the phone.. However, I would like to learn from experts like you about how to install games like Quake3, Duke, Counter Strike etc.. I have already referred to all threads explaining in bit and pieces, but I really couldnt understand how to do it..

I am a beginner and no programmer or expert.. Hence, I would appreciate if you guys help me with step by step procedure to install Quake3 on Nokia N900 having PR1.2..

Also, I do not have any Quake3 cd or anything.. Hence, kindly request you to please help me out step by step right from downloading Quake3 files & any other files it may require..

Thanks guys !! This will help many users as me who are new to linux & N900..

Not sure about the actual installation process, but if the Quake 3 data files have not been released under a free distribution license, it's against the rules here (and in most places) to distribute such software.

That was just in response to the OP saying he doesn't have the CD himself. Post updated to be clearer.

Just install the game from the repositories and copy the baseq3 directory from the CD to /home/user

Run the game and... et voilą!

If you are after something to show off... my advice is to go the simple route and get OpenArena... it uses the same engine as the Quake 3 port... except its free and a hell of a lot easier to install. Just select it from the Application Manager.. and your done.

If you are after the actual Quake 3 experience, however, you'll need the pak files from an UPDATED Quake 3 installation (older versions of quake 3 don't work). You'll then need to get them into your /home/user/ directory. My advice is a program like Midnight Commander (Commando?) as this will require no xterminal use.

quick question - is there any way to move the PAK files off the 2GB partition and into the much bigger MyDocs? Its REALLY taking up too much room (nearly 500MB of a 2000MB partition) and getting errors about not enough memory space already.. (despite having 150MB left)

Does Midnight Commanger give access to base files or system files without the need to use xterminal?
