ok i just found out that iphones have international keyboards built in i just recieved a text in japanese... how can i send a text back in japanese thanks?

I think the N900 already has a Japanese keyboard built-in, you just have to manually go in the Settings, Text Input, and switch either the hardware or virtual keyboard layout to Japanese. (I don't think there's a way to easily switch between the two through.

Unless you mean how you can get Japanese characters on an iPhone, in which case, I don't know.

You might want to take a look at scim, it has support for Japanese IIRC.
