I'm still trying to get my ThinkOutside Stowaway Bluetooth keyboard to work. I have three of these keyboards, and they all behave the same way. They will pair with my N900 for a split-second, but instead of then being connected and ready to type, they immediately disconnect and return to pairing mode.

I've tried the keyboards with my old N810 and with my Ubuntu desktop, and they connect fine to each of those. So the keyboards work. The N900 works with my bluetooth headphones fine, so the bluetooth device works. And what's frustrating is that I've used this same model keyboard with this same phone before and had no problems. I've gone through the instructions here:

http://wiki.maemo.org/Fremantle_Unsu...tooth_profiles
http://wiki.maemo.org/Fremantle_Blue...eyboard_Layout

After dozens of attempts, no connection.

So I have three logs from hcidump -XVt, pairing with the keyboard on each of the three machines:

N900: http://pastebin.com/dvkNqHkf
N810: http://pastebin.com/ryj1v4i1
Ubuntu: http://pastebin.com/P4rWVQQx

Does anyone know how to read these things? The part where it goes wrong on the N900 is this:

Code:
2010-08-09 21:46:20.850504 < HCI Command: Disconnect (0x01|0x0006) plen 3
    handle 11 reason 0x13
    Reason: Remote User Terminated Connection
2010-08-09 21:46:20.851450 > HCI Event: Command Status (0x0f) plen 4
    Disconnect (0x01|0x0006) status 0x00 ncmd 1
2010-08-09 21:46:20.935282 > HCI Event: Disconn Complete (0x05) plen 4
    status 0x00 handle 11 reason 0x16
Reason: Connection Terminated by Local Host
If someone helps me get these keyboards working, they can have one of them for free ;-)

Maybe it is something to do with security (e.g. PIN codes)?

I don't think it can be any failing in security: pairing with a PIN completes, and the keyboard is apparently happy enough to send the link key over the air:

Code:
2010-08-09 21:46:12.494181 > HCI Event: Remote Name Req Complete (0x07) plen 255
status 0x00 bdaddr 00:16:38:EC:36:30 name 'Think Outside Keyboard'

    bdaddr 00:16:38:EC:36:30 len 4 pin '6845'

PIN Code Request Reply (0x01|0x000d) ncmd 1
    status 0x00 bdaddr 00:16:38:EC:36:30

Maybe try and download Easy Debian and try it out with your keyboard?

I think Easy Debian has a full bluetooth stack and you can at leat "prove" your keyboard works.

It's really annoying this is so difficult with the n900 and one of my major problems with this device.

I already got it working fine with Ubuntu, so I'm pretty sure the keyboard works.
