First post here.. umm.. Anyone happen to know if there's any media player (music player) for Maemo5 out there which can be controlled so easily you dont even need to watch the display? For like in cases of.. listening to music while driving a car, or just before going to sleep for example. Would be cool to have a music player which even a blind person could use.
Could be completely new player app, or like an add-on for the default Maemo5 Media Player. Would work something like this: Launch the player application, you'll get the player UI with the control buttons n stuff. But then there would be some button / menu option / whatever where the user could set the player to function in "easy / simple / blind mode" etc. When pressed, all the touch screen buttons would wanish away giving the user just a blank display or just some nice "background picture". From this moment on the player would be stroke controlled; slide your finger on the screen from right to left to skip to the next track, from left to right to go to the previous track.. from up to down for stop / pause, down to up to play. Just those basic functions to keep the app very useable and with idiot proof working logic. Optionally toggle track shuffle ON/OFF with something like .. "S" shape stroke for example. Landscape / portrait mode support too. And for example double tap anywhere on the screen to go back to normal UI mode.
And during the "blind mode" it would be a nice feature to have a little longer (adjustable) touch screen sleep time to prevent the screen become un-active very often.
