Well to my knowledge I'm supposed to have 2gigs for installing applications and stuff but I didn't ever see two gigs but that was not a problem I assumed it would be enough so I began installing apps and themes, uninstalled a couple but now to my supprise my memory is around 700megs but the thing is last time I checked it had around 1.2Gigs and I already uninstalled all the apps I installed recently to see if that was the reason but no luck it just freed up a bit of memory, I used CuteExplorer and StorageUsage to see what files can be taking up so much space and I found a bunch of files under "themes" in in opt and in "usr" and in "fapman-cache" and I would like to know if I can remove these files and how. I have root access but am only now installed rootsh and performed commands such as "apt-get clean" and "apt-get autoremove" to free up some root space but still how do I free up space in /home ?
At the moment I have 843.8megs free. At least this is what I see under Memory in Settings.
Thanks

These are pics from my app man of stuff I've installed:
I'm sorry I couldn't upload the pics directly to 4shared
Sorry for any inconvenience

Well get Storage Usage first, this can be used to browse the area partitioned for installing stuff (i.e. /home). I found some folders that were of no use in "opt" and I deleted them. To do this you're going to have to use X Terminal so be careful. Also you'll need root access so download and install Rootsh via your Application Manager.

Now get rooted by opening up X Terminal and typing in the command "sudo gainroot". Your working folder will be "/root" now run the command "apt-get clean" and this will remove any dowmloaded package archives. Once the package is installed the dowmloaded file is no longer needed. This helps free up Root space. I know it's not what you may of wanted to know but it should be an opperation performed just in case.

Alright, now you're low on memory to install something, what do you do? Well you can perform a command in X Terminal to show the largest files on your system but this is not pretty looking so it's better to use Storage Usage. Download and install with your Application Manager and launch. You'll see for boxes, tap on the one named "Home" it wil scan all the folders and show you their sizes. The total size is at the top. I chose to go into "opt" first and browse around, I found a couple folders of no use, you might find the same. I found one named "themes" which contained files from themes I had previously deleted. Now to delete the files in any folder you use the command "rm -r" followed by the folder's location (e.g. rm -r /home/user/opt) This will delete ALL files and folders in "opt" so DON'T DO IT. I wanted to delete the folders in "themes" so I entered > rm -r /home/user/opt/themes and the folder "themes" was left but all it's files were gone. The location/address of folders can be found at the bottom of Storage Usage. Use it to guide you to the files to delete. BE CAREFUL

Now to uninstall certain packages enter this command into X Terminal > "dpkg -P" followed by the EXACT name of the package. To gather the exact name just enter the beginning of the name and tap on the [tab] button. This will autocomplete the package name.

Yea this is what I did and I perform "apt-get clean every now and then when I install something via App Man.

Cheers!
