Is there an app that will start recording once motion has been detected in the camera? sort of like a security camera?

Someone keeps walking behind my desk at work, and stares at my monitor when she is passing by, and I want to show the boss.

Check the laws in your area concerning hidden camera / recording. If someone does help you get the n900 to do what you ask, you don't want to get in trouble with the law...

I wasn't asking the impossible. such programs exist for PC's with webcams (like one called drogem ) . I really don't see the need for such a sarcastic remark. Thanks.

Dchky made a deb package of motion. You can find .deb file and .conf files here. I haven't tried it out myself yet, but he says it works. Just be sure to take note of the things he says in post, namely, do 'mkdir /var/run/motion' and use 'motion -c /path/to/motion.conf -n' to run the program.

There is a command-line program for linux called "motion" that I have used with webcams before. I am not sure if it would be possible to port it to Maemo and get it to work with the N900's cameras.
