Hey guys. Dehshizknight here from the US. Like many others, I suffered from having my USB port on the phone break and I am going to send my phone to Nokia USA for repairs.

My question here is have anyone else here went through the Nokia warranty process and was the charger port covered or did you have to pay for the repair? If you had to pay, how much? I'm wondering how likely it will be that I have to pay for the repairs. When it comes to electronics, some people are forced to pay while some are luckily covered by the warranty. I also want to kind of poll how many people got this done for free and how many people had to pay.

Thanks for any and all help!

Thanks for the wishful words, cpate99! I got off the phone with a Nokia technical representative and he gave me a free shipping label. Hopefully they don't butter me up with the "don't worry, we will take care of your device", free shipping and finally end up charging me half the price of the device :P

hey Dehshizknight,

How was your experience with Nokia on this issue. Did they fix it within warranty or did you have to pay for it?

I mailed my N900 to Nokia yesterday. The metal usb never came out, the phone just stopped charging. My phone got stuck in a reboot loop as I was clearing it out but I just sent it back the way it was. Im in still under warranty so hopefully they cover it. I'll keep you updated on my status

My USB port still feels the same, but several times lately it does not detect when I plug in the charger. Unplug and re-plug and then it works, but it's a bit frightening...

Had this exact same problem. They sent me (or are sending me) a mailing label to send it to Noka for a fix. We'll see, I guess.
