Hello everyone

I just wanted to share with you good and bad news A new version of Ovi Suite is coming, I got invitation to the closed trial hence I cant say much (NDA). The bad news is N900 support is still the same as in previous versions ie

Currently these features are not supported with Nokia N900:
- SMS sending is not supported
- SMS syncing between Nokia N900 and Nokia Ovi Suite is not supported. This is due to missing SMS sync support in Nokia N900 device.
- Nokia N900 doesn’t support accessing memory card content with Nokia Ovi Suite. This means, that Nokia Ovi Suite is always syncing photos, videos and music with Nokia N900 internal memory.
- No application installation support for Nokia N900.
- Messaging: Message notifications are not supported and drafts folder is missing
- Contact group sync is not supported
- Connect to Internet: Not supported over BT.

Dont know whether we, N900 users should be happy or not but I hope they will fix some of the things mentioned here.

Ok a small clarification by "I hope" I meant that I've already sent a suggestion to Ovi team

Cheers

I'm fine with this. I don't need a colourful software without suitable functionallity. It haven't worked well with my N95 and my previous Series40 Phones. For the Series40 Phones I had a Software from Data Becker. For the Symbian Devices I had nothing that worked well enought.

And for the N900 we are able to hack the Underlying Database Files ourself to get our content in and out!

So, who needs this kind of crappy software?

But didn't the old PC-Suite synchronise SMS with the N900? I have a few very old SMS showing in Ovi Suite 2.2; I can't think how else they might have got there.

Just FYI, this already works in the current version, and did in the version before, too.

I think that was the same list that was presented to us back in April when the "Team" posted this:

As a N900 user
Your feedback will be very valuable to the further development of Nokia Ovi Suite.
I see 2 possibilities here.

Either we didn't give enough "valuable" feedback, or
...they just were not listening.

No matter how loyal or fanatical a user is; the quickest and easiest way to loose his/her support is to appear to take or waste their time.

Sad but true and the most annoying part is this "- SMS syncing between Nokia N900 and Nokia Ovi Suite is not supported. This is due to missing SMS sync support in Nokia N900 device."

HELLOOOO ??? of course missing sms sync support app is the reason , why dont they spend some time to develop a plugin ? I made a suggestion and so far it is ignored , why should I file bugs and report issues if they dont care for what we want?

You can suggest as much as you want. Nobody, including Nokia, is able to write such a application because of this as WONTFIX marked Bug: 7512 (in my opinion a easyfix)

Sadly, we have at the moment no confirmation for a fix in MeeGo.
