When looking at reviews of the Nokia N8 from different sources it seems to me that the techie parts of those sources have a different view of what the average consumer want compared to general news sources.

I don't have any sources right here, but the conclusions are almost invariable the same IMO.

Tech news: The N8 is only for those wanting an excellent camera and for die-hards wanting to upgrade their old Symbian phones. Regular users would be better off with iPhone or Android.

General news: The N8 is an excellent camera phone with excellent social media connectivity and music store. Not quite the ease of use to that of the iPhone, but better overall than Android phones.

I say the tech news don't understand what most people want in a phone, they only understand what they themselves want: apps and GHz. Most people don't care about apps and GHz, they want ease of use, social media and music, and surprisingly many want a good camera .

Quite right !! I never take any notice of reviews anyway or even read them. There biased to the point of stupidity l The likes of apple pay millons to these people to push there products. Newspapers in the uk are always pushing apple and andriod ll

I missed that exact point in the past when Tech News actually became Tech Opinions.

There's become this "everyone wants the same thing" mentality among industry in general, and it could not be more wrong. We don't all listen to the same music. We don't all wear the same clothes. And we don't all want the same phone. But try telling the "experts".

it is this thing called "I know what you all need from a phone/tablet/pc/whatever", "my preferences are the best!!"

Its all about page views. If you can start a flame war about devices strange how much more hits you get.

Just look at TMO and which threads get the most views, it certainly is not the productive ones.

Everyone disagrees with you.

It's because the most visible part of tech news these days - engadget/gizmodo et al - are dominated by Appletards who are writers and self promoters first, tech journalists last.

I disagree to agree with either of you. I'm right, of course.
