is your phone on silent?
if so, try playing the file on general and see if it works

No, the clips play audio fine using Mplayer through speakers and headphones that is why I think it is some setting that might need tweaking?

You were right ! I wasnt taking on board what you saying. I put phone on general and there was the sound, it must be the way it works with VLC. Many thanks
One more thing, does anyone know if custom video settings in VLC can be stored so that they dont have to be set each time ie zoom and aspect ratio. It is a bit of a pain having to reset each time. Thanks

Can anbody help me to install VLC on my N900
One problem though, although the video is great there is no audio at all. I have tried a few different clips(all that play sound on the inbuilt player) but nothing. These clips are mainly xvid with mp3 soundtrack. In audio settings Channel 1 is selected automatically and the only other option is disable. Any ideas . Thanks
