According to GSMarena the N900 supports HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100
so 3G network will not work at all with 850 frequency?

It will work as EDGE data only with that band. If you live in the US, T-mobile is your only option for 3G (at least until the N9 comes out with pentaband, or if you go to Symbian and pick up the N8.)

I live in Brazil and unfortunately the state I live in along with 8 other states use 850 frequency and the rest 19 or so states use 2100.
Thanks for the help anyways, it shouldn't affect me a lot as the prices are quite hefty and by the time they decrease I would have bought another phone.
