Hi everyone,

I need some help with my N900.

To try nitdriod ics i installed installer by apt-get install nitdroid-installer then installed apt-get install multiboot multiboot-kernel-maemo but not insalled ics, while booting by mistake i chose maemo power kernel 47 out of 3 options, which(power kernel) i used before nitdroid installation.
Now problem is the phone actually seems to neither charge at all nor boot. When it is plugged into the usb or the charger there is sometimes a steady bright yellow light or sometimes no light at all. Sometimes when I press the power button the Nokia logo comes up, the light is white-blueish and bright and the phone switches off. I don't even get to the boot up options.I tried to flash it but it doen't goes into flash mode by presing "u" (usb symbol dosn't come in right-top corner), a dim nokia screen comes and goes again and again...

plz help... thanx in advance

Have you ever flashed the phone at all, even before installing Nitdroid?

You need to have a fully charged battery. If you can't charge it on that phone, get another phone that charges that size battery or buy a cheap separate charger and some cheap extra batteries.

Flashing is easiest if the computer is running Linux, ideally something like Ubuntu.

Some USB ports don't work for flashing, likewise some cables. How long have you had the N900? There can also be a problem with the N900 USB port, but that typically doesn't happen till you've had it for awhile.

Unless you have successfully flashed it in the past, the first assumption is that you don't quite know how to flash it correctly -- that is very common and often seems ominous but it's just a matter of learning. See the Wiki for flashing instructions, but be prepared to be confused till the light dawns.

(I have been interested in Mumbai since I read the book Shantaram.)

http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware - if something does not work, provide exact steps (commands, system info, etc) and info about what happens when.

Thanks guys your replys helped me a lot.
The problem was my n900 could not boot the OS hence neither the wall charger nor the USB cable could charge the N900 battery. So i bought a universal charger for mobile batteries and charged the battery and it worked.First i did was rescued my data by using Rescue Initrd(http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/N900/Using_Rescue_Initrd) .Then flashed only the kernel by using --flash-only function of flasher (flasher-3.5 -f --flash-only=kernel -R -F <firmware-image>).. and it was done..
thanks once again...
