Hi everyone!

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my N900. It changed all of a sudden the charging patterns from the normal slow yellow pattern when charging and the green light when charged to some morse code like

--.. .... in yellow when charging and
-- in green when charged

where '-'s are about 1 second, '.'s are just a short flash and the space is a little pause. But the strangest thing is, that they keep changing. Besides the ones above, so far I've seen

in yellow when charging
--. .....
--.. ..

in green when charged
--.. ....

During my investigations I've installed the LED pattern manager, but the patterns displayed there are the normal ones and according to the page http://wiki.maemo.org/LED_patterns the patterns I've observed are not predefined. The entries in my mce.ini seem to match those one on the site.

Does anyone know what these patterns mean?
I'll appreciate any suggestions!

Regards

The charger chip has a direct connection to the yellow led. Bright steady yellow (brighter than normal) is from the charger. You usually don't see it though, as the software turns it off and replaces it with the pulsating yellow, which is produced by the led controller.

The charger chip also sends a short pulse if there's an error condition. This shows up as a short flash on the led. If retry conditions are met, it will retry charge in 1-2s, which would produce a periodic blinking if that just retriggers whatever error condition the charger met.

The software doesn't pass on the errors reported by the charger chip. though sometimes it results in a "Not Charging" banner when it gives up and turns off the charger.

So, it's possible that the dc adapter is bad, that the cable is bad, that the usb port is bad, that something inside n900 is broken, or that the battery is broken.
