i already know pidgin from the desktop, and as far as i know, it doesn't support MUC (multi-user chatroom) for jabber.

N900 conversations have Jabber/XMPP support and starting from PR1.3 you can join multi-user chatrooms. So there is no need for external Jabber software.

while looking for a way to use jabber on the go including a way to chat inside created rooms, i found this one:

so this seems to be compiled for an older version of maemo? i tried installing the deb file, but just got a message about the packet being incompatible.
