Anytime I try downloading I always get the message Downloading 'app name' failed. Try again? How can I fix this?

I get the same thing because I am behind a nasty firewall blocking .tgz
and many other types of files.
Cure is to either get a vpn through the firewall or download the files
through an https proxy

Good luck with that

I've a slightly different app manager question:

Why does it take such a freakin' long time for it to do anything? Any way to speed it up?
