All those old enough to remember this legend:

Baker Street singer Gerry Rafferty dies at age of 63.

I was born in '61, but I hated that era for music, don't know why, maybe the crass cheesey lyrics.
It wasn't until this guy appeared with Baker Street, Night Owl etc that I started taking an interest in music.

I challenge anyone to travel the Hammersmith & City line of the London Underground without humming that song to themselves when they pass through Baker Street.

RIP Gerry.

as an old-ish "Paisley buddy" (like Gerry), I echo your sentiments.

Sad but true that most younger folks these days know "Baker St" purely as a sax break and have no idea that the catchy tune that Michael Marsden is dancing to while he butchers the cop in Reservoir Dogs is actually a Gerry Rafferty track too :-(
