Maybe this is already been answered but I can't seem to find it, I can't seem to get gaim on the 770 to play sounds? Anyone with some insight on this?

I noticed that too- no sounds. Can't seem to make it work. Seems ironic, but gaim is completely useless to me without notification sounds. I have better things to do than to stare at the screen, wondering when/if someone is trying to tell me something.

I had the same problem with Gaim 1.5 downloaded from http://maemo.org But when replaced with the latest 1.5.0-4 from http://zeus.rm-fr.net/~skyhusker/index.php/maemo/gaim I can hear now all the message notifications.

You are right- that version has sounds that work. But it is unstable... sometimes leaves rogue windows and once it even rebooted! Oh well, hopefully work on a stable maemo port will continue
