I'll be writing the review over the holiday weekend for Monday or Tuesday posting. Any questions on this one?

I read somewhere that it now has a stand on the back? I'd like a pic of that and to hear if it gets in the way of slipping it into a pocket.

Can you put it in your back pocket of jeans and sit on it? how strong is the protection?

general construction etc..

got mine yesterday--yes you can put into your back pocket--it does have a fold-out stand--and with the aluminum reinforcement you shouldn't worry that you'll harm the N800 by sitting on it--but I'd be more concerned about what the N800 does to *you*! (wink)

For anyone who has the case (I just ordered mine too), does it increase the size a lot? I'm hoping it's something that can still fit in pockets. Is opening and closing it a hassle, particularly the switch to "stand mode"?

Thanks-

I received mine a week or so longer, and it is very strong and robust.
Positives:
  • Screen protection and great overall device protection
  • Access to all ports (except USB)
  • Professional looking
  • Less likely to slip out of pocket (although the silicone case wins here)
  • Built-in stand
  • Very tight construction
  • Speakers aren't muffled like silicone case
  • Full face and my bright-yellow paint job is visible in all its glory

Negatives:
  • Does increase size substantially more than silicone case (no surprise)
  • Getting it closed requires a little force for it to click
  • The leather "kick-stand" does slip out of the grooves; tapping may knock it back
  • Price (not bad really, but the silicone one from eBay is like $8.00 USD)

Overall I'm quite happy with it except for the problems with it falling backwards when you have it propped up and it will slip a detent or two. Not sure how that might be fixed, but in a future version perhaps they could put a metal core that sticks out slightly further to catch the grooves better. I LOVE the builtin stand the n800 has and want something comparable in a case.

Thoughtfix has provided a good YouTube video review here

See Thoughtfix's video but the stand portion has a velcro side that keeps it snug against the outside of the case. As I mentioned, the biggest problem is that a fair number (particularly the last three) indents for the stand don't work well due to the shallow angle. It needs a positive lock method of gripping the current indent. Because the whole case is leather is has a tendency to flex and try and lean forward (to close again), removing downward pressure which would help the stand maintain its position.

HTH-
Larry
